the stragglers didn't notice me so i was in the clear, i talked with them and they told me they were spies from the British. i told them my story and they were astonished at the fact that i had made it through such a rough journey. they gave me some food and left me.
day 4
this morning i planned on going to lower Canada, see whats going on there.
day 7
i found an American patrol with prisoners walking behind them. and i saw Cindy, bound in chains. my fury grew and i attacked with gruesome force, killing one before they realized who i wanted to free. one of the soldiers grabbed her and pointed the gun at Cindy's head. i could do nothing but surrender. and now there is no way i am getting out this time...

day 2
she was the most beautiful woman i had met, but little did i know what would happen to me in the days of the war. i had gone to the battle and had been captured. the rest has been told.
day 3
this morning was actually the best i had ever had. no fear, no gunfire. just me and the birds. for the first time in my life, i missed building the colony and working hard. i walked around the woods for a bit and found some stragglers...

Daryls Journal
Day 1
When I was a kid, all I dreamed about was coming to North America, but look where that got me. My Father always told me, "why would you want to go there? we would have to start all over."
and I would tell him, "thats why I want to go."
eventually my father and mother were shipped off to North America, and I had to tag along. I grew up, they passed away, and I met Maria...

Americans announcing the traitors capture
Day 1 of capture
"This man, is the one who escaped from our prison at york. he is a British soldier that killed many of our brave men, and for that he will be hanged!"
as he said that the audience roared with approval, I could do nothing but watch. But u was lucky, the sounds of gunfire could be heard out of Oswego. the British had come, and imediately all of the American soldiers had rushed outside to fight them. I knew I could easily escape, but I just sat there, while the crowd ran into their homes.
Day 2 of capture
The British had won, and we were drinking some ale around the campfire. All though I showed happiness, I was grieving inside. although I knew that Maria was fine, I don't know what to my daughter. I am going to sleep and wait for what the new day has to offer me.

Sign posted around American controlled Canada
I found this sign when I was walking through York:
A reward will be given for a man with auburn hair, brow eyes and a blue British uniform. he has escaped from one of our prisons and he has still eluded our patrols. anyone seen helping will be forced out of their home and it will be burned! he is a traitor to the us and must not be allowed to get to the british forces!
5000 euros for this man.

letter from daryl mograine to maria
i was walking up to the entrance to find the camp abandoned! i searched through every home but there was no one. i am going to york hoping Maria will be there.
i have been traveling for two days only to find the buildings of york burning, the americans must have taken it and let nothing alive, but i had to search for Maria. i found her in a small farm house that was on fire, when i asked where cindy was she said that the americans had taken her. i was devastated. but i was determined to get her out...

Letter from Daryl to Maria
i will hurry, but i found a peice of parchment that says on it:
two days ago the americans attacked and now we are forced into labour, most of it is cutting down timber.
but the rest was smuged, i went towards a town and they chased me off as soon as they saw my tattered clothes. they must know i was a prisoner, but they also couldve learned it from my blue uniform. luckily i found an abandoned home and i will rest there for a while. be safe...

life of a sailor, part 3
we have finally been liberated from the americans and i am preparing to leave aboard the lakewater, yes i know it was my last day but they let me back on for our courageousness and for still being loyal to britain, and all that stuff. the americans relied on their ground tactics but they were flawed compared to our troops. they didn't anticipate the natives very random tactics which i must say are amazing (no wonder the americans are losing). well my ship is being turned into a trade ship when originally it was a fishing ship (its amazing what war does). this is most likely the last one i write because the trade routes are crawling with pirates these days.
life of a british sailor, part 2
well at least i could still work at the docks, but its not as fun as going out to sea to get fish. plus all of these shallow fish taste bad, and the americans aren't the nicest people to us. my wife is forced along with many other women to dance for them, oh boy if i could do anything i would kill any american that gives my wife a dirty look. we had to chop alot of timber which seemed to be crucial to their work. so when we found out that they were making more ships from our labor, we went out and sabotaged the ships they were being sent to.(we chopped down the worst timber ever)
life of a british sailor
it was me last day aboard me great ship the lakewater its not the best names for a ship, but she was one of the hardiest, plus we were there during the battle of the great lakes, aye let me tell ye all about it.
we were making our way home when our lookout (good old johnny) saw warships headed toward us, and they didn't look much like a bristish ship, we were just a small ship but we had to help defend Canada from the americans. we were just about to get sorrounded when our warships came in and intercepted them, that was our cue to leave. the next morning i wake up there are some american soldiers walking in the town, during the occupationg i had to hide myself in case any of them noticed me from the fight, it was going to be a long day.

I have volunteered to do work on the farms becuase we have about no money and you aren't here. Be careful around the man, I still want you to come back alive. The village is still receiving generous donations from the british. Another thing is that Quebec has been split into two seperate colonies. we are I beleive in, Upper Canada, now we can fully own our land becuase of the freehold system. The village is doing fine and I have much work to do before the coming winter. Be safe my love.

Guy talking about Timber
well you have your birch your rowans and your elms, i also realize no one wants to listen to me talking about this stuff...so i will talk about, ummm.....TIMBER!!!! ok when you are cutting down down a tree you have to be careful that it will not hit anyone becuase it could (will) kill them. i know from personal experiences....thats why i have no legs. anyways what is the moral we have learned today?
The Constitutional act read in front of an audience
Quebec will be divided intoUpper Canada and Lower Canada, these will act as separate Colonies. each Colony will have an elected assembly that has the power to raise taxes.Citizens of Lower Canda will continue their seigneural system while Upper Canada is guaranteed the Bristish freehold system. one seventh of all land in Upper Canada will act as clergy reserves for the Anglican church, and one seventh of all land in Upper Canada are made Crown reserves for the lieutenant-governor.

Letter from Daryl Mograine to Maria
I think that I am lost in the wilderness. I guess that should have asked where to go when Iwas talking to the slaves, but i met this man in the wild who was named john cabot (just kidding), his name was john but I didn't get his last name. he was an american so I was a bit worried but I found out that he was a soldier who was sent deep into the british territory but he sort of abandoned his troop.

Letter from Daryl Mogranie to Maria
i've arrived in a black loyalist camp for some reason, and for some reason they seem to be leaving. i know right when i got here! anyways i got the letter and i will not be long (not in the letter: just two more chapters) i think that it is a bit sad how poorly treated they are, and i would like to do something about it. i met a man that told me what was happening and it turns out that they are going to africa becuase there is some settlement for them. keep sending me letters to make me know that you are all alive.

Letter from Maria to Daryl
how I long for you to come back, cindy is ill at the moment but the doctor said she will be fine in a few days. I know that you were in jail the past few days and some of the people are afraid that when you get here you will only make things worse for us. I am also happy to tell you that the war is over, and though the americans won we can still keep our own land and not be troubled by them.
Letter from Daryl Mogranie to Maria
i have escaped from the imprisonment of the americans....i have little time to write this letter or they will find me, i have seen many ships leaving the dock of New York and are apparently heading for Nova Scotia so i have decided to go on, and hopefully they will not notice me when i get on board with the rest of the loyalists. do not worry maria i am coming but it will be a while before i get there....

letter from a soldier of britain
man these americans are vicous in their fights, they must have been pretty mad about all of those taxes but i didn't get them when i was living with my family in nova scotia. though im starting to feel their pain, i mean if i was puting up with those laws i would be outaged that the government made them in the first place...i have a feeling the war is coming to an end, the americans have so many spies here and there that they know what our plans our just as soon as we thought of them. i am happy it is coming to an end though for i long to see my daughter.
letter from daryl mograine to maria....
the last thing i wanted to do was move from the american soil, after i left they ransacked the house without a care. all i wanted to do was live a nice life and I thought that even the british will have a nice camp, but no....we had to start everything from scratch. though the rations and the money we got was enough to live a daily life. my own wife was moved to another camp completely. last night the gunfire was too loud i couldn't stand it at all, i write thisas my last letter for the americans have captured me and have given me only one letter to write left.
for maria my wife.

letter for the thirteen colonies
we have decided during the continental congress that we will no longer serve the british with their insane laws and taxes. we have declared war on the british government and any loyalists that serve them will be forced to leave our soil!

letter for the british people
We have invited the people of the Thirteen Colonies and beyond for an important meeting, but we have not heard from Nova Scotia or Quebec. We have a fear that they will stay loyal to the british empire. the meeting will be about the new laws that have been a problem for the most part. and we believe that if we can rally enough people we can upset the british empire even further then we have done yet!!!!
